Tutorial, Step 6: Polish

Home Tutorial Polish

There are still a few things with our To-Do stack that are not very polished. We will correct them now. (But this is not essential; if you are impatient, you can skip the polishing, proceed right to the next step and download the stack to the phone.)

The card list view as produced by accepting all the defaults is not yet optimal for the very small phone screen. With the card name identical to the content of the first field, we don't need both in the card list. Take out the card out as follows:

Open the Edit Backgrounds window again, make sure the Task background is selected, uncheck the Card name in list? flag, and click the Modify button.

Card name not in list

We configured a visible length of 50 for the Task field. This was automatically used as column width for the card list, but the phone screen is so small that we won't see the priority in the list this way. So we will shorten this:

Open the Edit Fields and Controls window, select the Task field, change the value in the Column width for list from 50 to 25, and click the Modify button.

Task list column smaller

To allow you to see as much information as possible on the small phone screen, MoStacks defaults to an eight-point font for everything in the stack. But this font is rather small and somewhat hard to read because of this, and not really necessary with our background of only two fields. So we will switch to 11 points:

Open the Edit Stack window, click on the Select... button in the Font frame, in the Select Font window that appears enter 11 in the Point size field, click on the Done button in this window and finally on the Modify button of the Edit Stack window.

Change stack font point size

Thanks to hierarchical inheritance we only need to change one point size that ripples down to all cards and fields.
