Edit Sort Keys Window

Home Development System Windows Edit Sort Keys Window

With the Edit Sort Keys window you can manage sort keys. A sort key in MoStacks defines a sort order for cards of a certain background. In simple terms, the cards will be sorted alphabetically according to the "key strings" built based on the sort key definition. Read more about sorting in general in chapter Sorting.

The window uses the Edit Modes system to handle the possibly many sort keys of the currently selected background, a Modify button to save changes, a New button to create a sort key etc.

The following two frames allow you to use any sort key of the stack:

Backgrounds: This list shows all backgrounds of the stack. Selecting/single-clicking an entry switches the list Sort Keys of Background to all sort keys of the corresponding background. Double-clicking an entry opens the Edit Backgrounds window.

Sort Keys of Background: This is the list of all sort keys the current background, the one currently selected in the Backgrounds list.

The window has the following frames with controls and fields to display and/or change various aspects of the current sort key, or to specify a new sort key:

Name: The name of a sort key is used to identify it. As explained in chapter Names, you can choose any name of reasonable length, but not an empty name.

Components: Define up to 5 components for the sort key, using fields of the selected background together with a sort way (ascending or descending sorting). As explained in chapter Sorting, if you use more than one component, the sorting will be hierarchical, with the first component the most important one. Best use the same sort way for all components, except if you really need a particular special sorting.

The window has the following buttons:

New: Switch the mode to "create", as a preparation to create a new background.

Sort Cards: Sort the cards of the background of the current sort key, according to the current sort key, but do so without further imposing any order on the cards after sort (unlike the Keep cards sorted? background flag).

Delete: After confirmation, delete the current sort key.

Create: Create a new sort key, based on the info that you specified.

Modify: Save the modifications. Just changing anything in this window but not clicking the Modify button has no effect; to discard changes, just close the window and re-open it.
